  1. Engineering

Valentina Lessons Learned

Continue

  • Snap rings on drive shafts were awesome, keep using

  • Simple and efficient use of sheet metal for mechanisms/robot

  • Good use of efficiency during the prototyping/iterating process

  • Well-developed analysis of game-breaking; continue for next year’s kickoff/strategy

Stop

  • The ‘flip-flopping’ of strategy that progressed into the build season; no consistent strategy from week 1

  • Semi-poor management of students; leadership should be more direct in regards to the strategy and for incorporating all LINKSters

  • Lack of consistent driver practice; while we could get away this year, a new drive team is key for progressing forward and will need practice

  • Design period lasted too long, leading to last-minute changes to design

  • Allow for a drive practice/testing phase for last 1-2 weeks; will be necessary especially if autonomous is a factor

New Rules

  • Unibumper as much as possible, not reversible colors

  • ALWAYS FASTEN THE GEARBOXES TO THE FRAME

  • More consistent scheduling and DEADLINES

  • More consistent drivetrain; especially for the 2020 year, utilize a DIAD design to save time going forward and not having issues to the robot that will sacrifice performance. TLDR 2 options: DIAD or AndyMark

  • LINEAR ARMS ONLY, NO Ls

  • Electronics cannot be an afterthought, integrate layout in design early

  • Extend CAD to all via OnShape; more LINKSters should now be a part of the CADding process(and more dispersed to all to add longevity)
